What are the responsibilities and job description for the SENIOR ACCOUNTANT position at US Orthopaedic Partners?
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparation of the monthly financial reporting package and work directly with the Controller to provide financial insight to executive and operations management. Example responsibilities include :
- Preparing monthly operational reports and journal entries
- Analysis of operational reports and provide feedback to management (primarily CFO & COO) on variances
- Analysis of key labor and productivity metrics, including reconciling expectations to actual results
- Accounting for multi-location practice revenue and related compensation accruals
- Analysis of actuals vs. departmental expectations
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Cash accounting and bank reconciliations
- Work closely with Controller on various special projects / needs as they arise
- Accounting research as required
The Senior Accountant will work with executives and their analysis needs. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Controller as directed and will have frequent interaction with the Executive members.
Prime candidates will have an undergraduate business / management degree with 3-5 years of post-college work experience. Candidates who have been responsible for analysis within other organizations and are ready to assume more responsibility are ideal candidates. A very strong history using a Financial Accounting software package such as Microsoft Dynamics / Great Plains is a plus; however intense on-the-job training is available as necessary. The candidate must possess very strong Excel skills. Candidates with general business curiosity and a strong interest to grow and learn professionally will thrive in this position.
Work Environment and Expectations :
Initially this employee will focus 80-90% of his / her time on the structured responsibilities detailed above. Ad-hoc analysis and requests will comprise the remainder of the candidate’s time. Once a high level of proficiency in these core areas is achieved, numerous growth opportunities exist to expand daily responsibilities into other areas of the candidate’s interest and the business’ need.
The candidate must be able to think quickly, respond intelligently and hold themselves well in high pressure situations. Skills Required :
Experience Required :
3-5 years of post-undergraduate experience is recommended.
Computer Proficiency :
Expert in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Intermediate to Advanced Skills with a mid-range accounting package (Great Plains preferred)
Education :
College Degree – Required (Accounting)
CPA not required however a candidate sitting for or already obtaining their CPA is a plus
