About the Job
Operations Employees working in the Shipping Department are responsible for the timely packaging and shipping of US Tarp products. They are trained to use tools and equipment for ensuring secure and proper on-time shipments. In addition, they assist with the needs in other departments to ensure US Tarp products are produced and shipped on time. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery
· Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are all correct
· Provide shipping quotes to sales team as required
· Ensure appropriate payment has been processed prior to shipping product
· Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of list shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents
· Maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records
· Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards
· Supervise team performance and productivity; supporting individual training and development.
· Work in assigned areas to support the needs of the shift and/or the department to ensure quality production and on-time order fulfillment.
· Organize production workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules.
· Encourage teamwork and communication among all US Tarp operations.
· Train, oversee and coach employees, helping to resolve work-related problems.
· Maintain a safe working environment by training and monitoring employees’ use of equipment.
· Review work throughout the work process and at completion to ensure that it has been performed properly.
· Submit reports on performance and progress for production, safety, and employee performance.
· Identify and communicate production and inventory challenges; working with other leaders to resolve issues.
· Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
· Operate a forklift, as needed.
· Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Ability to read, write, perform simple arithmetic, and measure accurately.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in production and documentation.
- Ability to understand and maintain quality and safety standards.
- Ability to route and distribute materials.
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate channels.
- Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures.
- Ability to operate standard professional office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, and file cabinets.
- Ability to prepare and maintain routine administrative paperwork.
