The Opportunity We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Controller to join our team. As the Plant Controller, you will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of our BioSteel Manufacturing facility located in Verona, Virginia. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, establishing financial principles and practices, preparing accurate financial statements, and providing valuable insights and analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar capacity. Responsibilities Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure efficient operations, including the thorough review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and statutory reporting for BioSteel. Take ownership of quarterly forecasts, annual budgeting, and compliance with legal requirements such as SOX, Internal/External Audit, and balance sheet reviews. SAP experience is an asset Ensure that financial reports, including profit and loss statements, are prepared in accordance with all accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Provide strategic guidance and support to the finance team, helping them achieve their performance targets and objectives. Regularly review monthly financial reports to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with the organization's path to profitability. Collaborate with the Controller to provide valuable insight and analysis on cost structures, identify opportunities for improvement, and establish cost models to optimize the facility's profitability. Drive and monitor the financial performance of the BioSteel Verona, Virginia manufacturing facility, leveraging your expertise to identify and implement strategies that enhance efficiency and drive financial success. Perform any other duties assigned by the Controller or senior management, contributing to the overall success of the finance function and the organization as a whole. Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA designation is highly preferred. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within the CPG or manufacturing industry. Proven expertise in financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable recommendations. Proficient in financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders. Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail. Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
