Senior Alternative Investments Accounting Specialist What can you expect? Be responsible for the accounting, finance, and operations for the assigned alternative investment funds, including various hedge fund of funds and/or private equity fund of funds Be the primary communication point with fund administration and finance operations groups at fund administrators and custodians What’s in it for you? A global company with a strong brand and a commitment to growth A culture of internal mobility, collaboration and extraordinary career opportunities Competitive pay and outstanding benefits Paid time off to give back through non-profit community service Employee Resource Groups that provide access to leaders, relevant volunteer and mentoring opportunities, and interactions with counterparts in industry groups and client organizations In this role you will be responsible for: Oversee reconciliation of fund accounting and portfolio statements, including review of investment valuations, cash activity, operating expenses, and investor allocations Coordinate all investment trading & execution and monitor all investment activity for fund of funds, including monitoring updates to terms of underlying fund documentation and ensuring proper reconciliation by service providers and fund back-office team Lead the annual audit process and the preparation of financial statements for several onshore and offshore funds, working closely with the funds’ administrators and auditor Lead the annual tax filing process and issuance of statements K1s for several onshore partnership funds, working closely with tax preparers Monitor compliance with fund line of credit covenants Assist client auditors with investment product requirements and data delivery based on needs Review revenue and AUM calculations and reporting for alternative investments funds What qualifications are necessary to have for the role? Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience 5 or more years of experience with finance or private investment funds Strong technical knowledge of fund accounting, multiple fund structures, and complex financial instruments Private fund vendor experience; transfer agent, custodian, fund accounting, client services Working Knowledge of FASB/IRS rules as they apply to alternative investment funds What will make you stand out: CPA preferred Prior experience at a Big Four firm Mercer believes in building brighter futures by redefining the world of work, reshaping retirement and investment outcomes, and unlocking real health and well-being.
