How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
Manage operations related to a 110,000 square foot warehousing operation in Houston, Texas as well as five supporting satellite warehouse facilities with a net inventory value of over $40 million. National Warehouse supports industrial operations and activities by stocking strategic spare parts and operating consumables.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
● Safety:
Promote a safe work environment and instill a strong safety culture.
Work to achieve zero accidents, lost time incidents or recordable incidents by taking a leadership role in safety.
Develop and maintain facility safety programs.
Hold weekly “tailgate” and monthly safety meetings.
Proactively address and close all safety incidents and safety audit findings.
Manage an active near miss and accident prevention technique reporting program.
● Warehouse Activities:
Manage daily warehouse operations including shipping and receiving of parts and equipment.
Establish key warehouse performance metrics and report each metric on a monthly basis.
Report to management regularly on warehouse operations including key warehouse performance metrics such as inventory turns, inventory value, backorder rate, savings and operating cost.
Manage setup of inventory items in Maximo.
Manage inventory replenishment process and activities.
Manage weekly cycle counts and annual physical inventory of warehouses.
Manage identification and disposal of obsolete parts and equipment.
Manage inventory and material movements to and from satellite warehouses.
● Warehouse Personnel:
Manage personnel and personnel issues on a daily basis.
Ensure each warehouse employee’s training/qualification is up to date at the end of each quarter.
Conduct mid-year and end-of-year career development, performance development and performance review with each employee.
Ensure strict adherence to administrative and operational policies and procedures.
● Operating Budget / Costs:
Understand and monitor warehouse operating costs within approved budget.
Control overtime within established limits.
Continuously improve efficiency indicators.
● Savings:
Identify and implement savings opportunities related to inventory purchases. Systems and Procedures:
Develop and maintain procedures related to warehousing functions.
Generate and issue pertinent reports related to warehousing functions (rotables report, savings report, activity exception report).
Ensure optimized design and layout of warehouse facilities.
Develop a high competency level for Maximo inventory management system interface for inventory management.
Develop a high competency level for Oracle interface for inventory procurement.
Enforce the consistent usage of Oracle and Maximo for inventory reservations by internal customers.
Stays informed of and implements best practices on warehousing and inventory management and
technologies.
● Other:
Maintain facility building permits.
Execute special projects on an as needed basis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Operate forklift safely.
EDUCATION:
Preferred: College degree or 5 years relevant work experience.
Required: High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Experience in managing operations and/or inventory/assets.
