Position Title: Area Safety Manager
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Frequent travel up to 70%
Overnight travel
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
Establish and promote the maintenance of a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment by
performing the following duties personally or through region supervisors
In particular, you will:
Develops, supervises, and coordinates training programs or other media, which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness as well as satisfy the requirements of the Airgas safety policies and procedures in addition to any federal, state or regulatory requirements.
Routinely inspecting and/or tour Company facilities in Utah, Idaho and Western Colorado to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventive measures where indicated; performs periodic internal safety audits and assures that the results of these reviews are made available to the Director of Safety.
Monitor/conduct monthly safety meetings at facility locations during site visits. Offer reports as to the efforts and effectiveness of the local meetings to the appropriate members of the management team.
Provide counsel and direct facility compliance with OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations.
Participate in accident investigations for both vehicle accidents and personal injuries to determine immediate cause as well as root cause; implement changes to correct and prevent reoccurrence. Compile and submit reports required by company policy and regulatory agencies, as applicable.
Intelex administration to include monitoring Good Catches and corrective actions, providing training in use of applications and maintaining permit databases.
Consults on the design and use of equipment and facilities, in consideration of safety policies, procedures and programs.
Review and confirm update of regulatory compliance license and permit information.
Represents the organization in various community or industry safety groups and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
At least 2 years experience in a safety audit or management related role. High school diploma, or equivalent (GED) required. Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, science or safety course of study is preferred.
