Laboratory Technician

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
 

As a Laboratory Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Conducting assigned technical tasks producing accurate, timely results used for decisions within an area of product development, technology development, or application development at a project level. Exhibits good discriminatory judgment in evaluating results of those tasks, and suggests future direction based on these results. Understands project scope, expectations, and requirements.
• Creating and refining test methods, resulting in more efficient and clear work procedures
• Following test methods to produce datasets used for product and technology development
• Providing laboratory and analytical support for product and technology development teams
• Providing data analysis and clear communication to product and technology development teams
• Leadership. May be responsible for providing functional work direction and/or training to contract workers or tech aides. May lead projects or subteams to complete assigned tasks. May conduct training to customers and/or business teams.

Your Skills and Expertise 
 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Associates Technical degree from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start)
• Two (2) years of experience working in a laboratory setting, producing datasets to guide research and product development teams in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Bachelor's Technical degree from an accredited institution
• Five (5) years of experience working in a laboratory setting, producing high quality datasets to guide research and product development teams in a private, public, government or military environment
• Skills include strong written and verbal communication, creativity, adaptability, problem solving, time management, attention to detail, work ethic, and dependability.
• Basic computer literacy and competency in statistical software is required for data entry. 
• Basic competency in statistical calculations including sampling plans and mathematical skills is required for analysis and preparing standard reports.
• Demonstrated initiative
• Leadership skills and the ability to self-identify projects are preferred qualifications.

Work location:

• 3M Center Building 235 – on site mainly

Travel: May include up to 10%

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
