What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern, Baseball Operations - National Team Championships Arizona position at USA Baseball?
The Intern, Baseball Operations - National Team Championships will work directly with USA Baseball’s National Team Championships and report to the Assistant Director, Baseball Operations. The USA Baseball Arizona National Team Championships are elite championship events which serve as the primary identification vehicle for players to be considered for the 15U National Team, as well as the 13U/14U Athlete Development Program (ADP) and the 16U and 17U National Team Development Programs (NTDP). Through these events, USA Baseball provides an opportunity for more than 250 teams the chance to showcase their talents against teams from all across the nation and players an opportunity to be selected to represent their country.
Anticipated Start Date: March 2025, April 2025 or May 2025
Anticipated End Date: July 2025 or August 2025
POSITION DETAILS:
- Full-time hours (40 hours/week)
- Part-time until May; full-time hours through July/August (flexible start and end date)
- Remote Hybrid
- Based remotely and will travel to work on-site for events as assigned.
- Domestic travel involved in this position (all travel costs covered by USA Baseball)
- USA Baseball has 3 Intern, Baseball Operations – National Team Championships Arizona positions available with various start and end dates. End dates will vary depending on availability following the National Team Championships Arizona.
IN THIS ROLE
- You will serve as the main point of contact for teams, parents, and players attending the Arizona National Team Championships.
- You will provide administrative support for the Arizona National Team Championships, including gathering rosters, collecting insurance information, communicating with teams via phone and email, and fielding questions about the event from participants, parents, and scouts.
- You will supplement in-event communication through various social media outlets.
- You will travel to Phoenix, Arizona, during June and July to execute tournament operations.
- You will conduct on-site registration, oversee tournament operations at an assigned MLB Spring Training complex, and serve as the complex’s primary USA Baseball representative, managing all tournament staff (scouts, scorekeepers, gate staff, etc.).
- You will provide administrative and operational assistance for USA Baseball National Teams, National Team Development Programs, and the National Team Identification Series.
- You will support other USA Baseball events and departments as needed, both administratively and operationally.
QUALIFICATIONS
- You are highly organized with attention to detail and a passion for baseball operations.
- You are a problem-solver who is flexible and agile in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn new software platforms, such as League Apps.
- You have strong initiative to complete tasks in a timely fashion to advance the team’s overall progress.
- You have professional communication skills, both in person and via phone/email.
- You are able to establish and maintain relationships with various staff members, scouts, and coaches.
- You have a basic understanding of existing and emerging baseball technologies, including GameChanger and Pitch Smart.
- You are flexible and willing to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, during USA Baseball events.
- You can lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- You are in pursuit of or have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- You can successfully complete a background check prior to employment.
