As the Baseball Operations Intern for the Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP), you will report to the Director of Technology Operations and support the day-to-day operations of PDP. Your work will include event management and data collection using cutting-edge technology to evaluate top amateur baseball talent.
 
 The PDP is a collaborative effort between USA Baseball and Major League Baseball that establishes an official identification and player development pathway for amateur baseball players in the United States. Athletes participating in the PDP undergo unique baseball and athletic assessments using state-of-the-art technology as a part of the most comprehensive evaluative experience in any sport. This position will work with a team of interns to facilitate on-site operations and conduct PDP assessments around the country during the summer of 2025. 

Anticipated Start Date: May 2025 (multiple start date opportunities)
Anticipated End Date: August 2025


POSITION DETAILS
  • Full-time hours (40 hours/week)
  • On-Site Hybrid 
    • Based in Cary, NC and primarily works events uses a flexible workspace in office as needed
  • Significant amount of domestic travel involved in this position (all travel costs covered by USA Baseball)

IN THIS ROLE
  • You will assist with planning and managing PDP events, including athletic assessments and on-field gameplay.
  • You will travel to regional events nationwide to facilitate operations for amateur prospects.
  • You will collect and analyze data using advanced tools like OptoJump, RightEye, Visionm VALD ForceDecks, Rapsodo, and TrackMan.
  • You will provide insights to athletes, coaches, and scouts regarding assessment data collected during PDP events.
  • You will support post-event data aggregation and analysis to inform athlete development.
  • You will identify areas for program growth, including the integration of emerging technologies and enhanced data management strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • You are currently pursuing or have recently completed a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • You have experience within baseball and a passion for the sport and its various elements.
  • You demonstrate strong organizational, logistical, and leadership skills.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive Suite, and Adobe programs.
  • You have an interest in sports science and player development.
  • You thrive in a team setting, with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
  • You are flexible and adaptable to changing organizational needs.
  • You are willing to travel to USA Baseball events and third-party events throughout the United States.
  • You can relocate to the Durham/Cary, NC area for the duration of the internship.
  • You can successfully complete a background check prior to employment.
Preferred
  • You have experience in baseball as a player, coach, or administrator.
  • You have prior experience in sports event management.
  • You have previous experience in sport performance and player development.
  • You are familiar with baseball operations software such as Rapsodo, Diamond Kinetics, or Trackman.
  • You possess strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
