Tour Guide (Washington, DC)
This is a 1099 contract position; rates starting at $20/hr. based on experience plus cash tips daily. Paid Training at $18/hour
USA Guided Tours LLC (USAGT) is seeking personable, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable Tour Guides to join our team! The ideal candidate has a passion for sharing Washington, DC’s history and culture, and enjoys leading, engaging, and entertaining the public in general.
USAGT provides the training; you bring your unique personal touch that gives our guests a positive and memorable experience!
The successful candidate must be personable, professional, and have excellent communication skills (clear, concise, commanding yet friendly).
Responsibilities:
- Share DC’s rich history as you travel through DC, and at each monument/ memorial/ attraction
- Provide interesting and entertaining information / historical facts, dates, and anecdotes of DC’s history / culture
- Engage with guests with wit and charm to enhance the guest experience
- Answer questions - maintaining a positive attitude
- Offer city-wide recommendations as requested
- Tailor tour content to the age and interest of guests and visitors
- Facilitate rich discussions to maintain visitors’ interest
- Handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
- Ensure adherence to tour schedules and itineraries
- Safely lead groups in and around attractions
- Provide a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors; ensuring visitors are aware of safety guidelines and regulations
Must:
- have at least one (1) year public speaking experience with large groups (over 25 people)
- complete a background check prior to offer
- THOSE WITH PERFORMING ARTS/THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPPLY
- conduct a professional image at all times
- have scheduling flexibility.* Tour schedules are made one month in advance
- be able to work in a fast-paced environment - calmly and with composure
- have minimum one (1) year Customer Service Experience in a Visitor Center or Public Tours (preferred)
