Responsibilities

Maintains, monitors, and supports all of USA Health’s hospital and clinical data and voice networking environment; configures and manages of all networking hardware to included Cisco Ethernet switches, wireless LAN controllers, Cisco VPN concentrator and maintain firewall configurations needs for USA Health; maintains routing or network traffic between sites by routinely monitoring performance of internal and external networks to ensure peak performance; provides support for data and voice interconnectivity between USA Health’ s hospitals and clinics; coordinates the installation and maintenance of the network cabling and fiber infrastructure with the health systems contracted vendor and internet service provider; possesses and maintains knowledge of: Cisco products, 802.1x secure wireless network access, radius network authentication, enterprise wireless LAN controllers, VMWare Network Monitoring Tools, DNS and DHCP; coordinates and works cooperatively with the USA University Networking, Telecommunications and Technical Services groups to provide functional services between USA Health and the University; initiates strategies and plans special networking projects with the Director of Technology and IT Infrastructure to meet the needs of the health system; carries a cell phone and responds promptly to occasional requests for assistance (24/7); travels to various locations to support the network hardware at all of USA Health’s hospitals and clinics; creates and maintains the voice and data network diagrams that outline the data flow documentation of USA Health’s network; participates in work related improvement activities; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and perform these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization’s values; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; participates in on-call support for hospital systems; communicates and works effectively with other IT teams as well as individuals and vendors; documents training materials and procedures; maintains adequate documentation for auditor requests; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer sciences, or related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and two years of progressively responsible experience with engineering, installation, management and maintenance of large scale data or voice networks; or an associate’s degree in computer information science or related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and four years of progressively responsible experience with engineering, installation, management and maintenance of large scale data or voice networks. Directly related experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
