Job Description
The Assistant Development Coach, Beach National Teams (BNT) is a regular full-time position and reports to the Development Coach, BNT. The Assistant Development Coach is responsible for assisting with the late-stage athletic development of post-collegiate and specific “talent transfer” athletes through intelligent science-based program design and coaching support. They will work closely with other USAV/USOPC Performance Team members to accelerate the beach volleyball development of athletes toward podium level performances against top international teams. There may be some domestic and/or international travel.
Cross departmental support is expected of all positions. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends, and holidays. The position is located in Torrance, CA.
Requirements
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
- Assist with the design and implementation of development programs for post-collegiate and talent transfer athletes (athletes moving from indoor or other sports to beach).
- Support the BNT Development Coach in instilling a vision and understanding of what it takes to represent your country on the world stage for post-collegiate and talent transfer athletes.
- Provide coaching support for post-collegiate and talent transfer athletes under the direction of the Development Coach, BNT.
- Assist the BNT Development Coach with ensuring developmental and talent transfer athletes are tracking against Key Performance Indicators and with preparing performance reports.
- Support the development and maintenance of a late-stage development athlete database.
- Support the BNT Development Coach in the development and implementation of innovative ways to accelerate beach volleyball development and/or transfer of high potential indoor (or other sport) athletes.
- Assist the BNT Development Coach with athlete identification.
- Support the Beach Collegiate National Team’s athlete selection and training ensuring alignment with BNT standards/best practices.
- Provide coaching support at select domestic and international competitions under the direction of the BNT Development Coach.
- Support the National Team Development Program (NTDP) Academy via content creation and delivery that that’s in line with BNT standards/best practices.
- Support the BNT with coaching identification and development, beach volleyball studies, and design and implementation of effective training strategies.
- Support BNT Performance Staff in fostering a growth mindset and Team USA culture.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education, related degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of elite level sport experience as a coach beach side or indoor volleyball.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Ability to lead team(s) and achieve organizational results.
- Self-starter takes the initiative to solve problems.
- Must successfully pass a USAV background screen (prior to hire date).
- Must complete SafeSport training within two weeks of hire date and keep current as a condition of continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience
- Experience working with Olympic Sport
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000
