Position Title: Administrative/School/Transportation Secretary
Status: 10 or 12 month – Benefit Eligible
Department: Dependent upon placement/vacancy
Reports to: Building principal/administrator
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Summary: The Secretary provides office and clerical support to assist with the efficient operation of the school district. To accomplish these tasks, this secretary works closely with the staff and administration of USD 379.
Supervisory Responsibility: NONE
Qualifications/Education:
· High School diploma or equivalent
· Experience as a secretary preferred but no required
· Working knowledge of basic office procedures and operation of common office equipment
· Knowledge of and experience in computer operations especially spreadsheets and databases, bookkeeping and accounting, and filing.
· Ability to type at a reasonable rate of speed while maintaining accuracy
· Ability to interact tactfully with administrators and staff as well as the public
· Certification of Health for School Personnel K.S.A. 72-5213
· Current Driver’s License (Kansas Preferred)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide office and clerical support to assist with the efficient operation of the school district.
· Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
· Communicate effectively with members of the school district, parents, and community.
· React to change in a productive and flexible manner, and handle other tasks as assigned.
· Appropriately operate and maintain all equipment as required.
· Maintain confidentiality.
· Support the philosophy and mission of U.S.D. No. 379.
General Responsibilities:
· Screen visitors and telephone calls, directing them to the appropriate person/department.
· Answer office telephone positively and respond appropriately to requests for information.
· Screen and route incoming mail.
· Compose, type, and copy correspondence, reports, bulletins, records, and other materials for the supervising administrator and/or other designated staff and assist them in other ways as needed.
- Obtain, gather, and organize other pertinent data as needed.
· Maintain an orderly filing system.
· Maintain an attractive and efficient working area while ensuring smooth operation of the office.
· Prepare correspondence as necessary.
· Maintain professional confidentiality in all areas.
· Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Blood borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal/supervisor.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
· Requires prolonged standing, sitting and use of equipment including repetitive motions and computer eye fatigue.
· Requires stooping, bending and reaching and occasionally lifting of supplies and materials.
· Must work in stressful environment depending on outside variables with numerous interruptions.
