The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a Director of Education for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program. The Director of Education in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of South Florida (USF) serves as core faculty for the ACGME Emergency Medicine Residency Program, playing a critical role in education, mentorship, and clinical service expansion. This individual actively participates in teaching Emergency Medicine fellows, residents, and medical students, offering guidance and fostering their professional growth. They are involved in research, staying updated on advancements in the field, and contributing to scholarly activities. The Director of Education ensures compliance with ACGME standards, including the 80-hour resident work week and completion of the ACGME Resident and Faculty Surveys. They also collaborate with the Department Chairman to maintain adherence to GMEC requirements, participate in didactic sessions, and expand clinical services within the college and community.

Participates actively in the teaching and/or research programs of the department/division, attending Emergency Medicine fellows, residents, and medical students, providing guidance and mentorship. Will expand clinical services within the college, and in the community. Will keep abreast of new developments and exhibit a scholarly approach to learning. Participates in didactic lectures, presentations, and discussions at Grand Rounds, seminars, workshops, journal clubs, research meetings, laboratory and clinical training. Serve as ACGME Core Faculty for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Ensure compliance with ACGME Resident Survey 80-hour work week. Ensure full completion of the ACGME Resident Survey Response. Collaborate with the Chairman on the ACGME Faculty Survey Responses and compliance with GMEC Attendance for Required Members.

Clinical responsibilities will include patient care in the emergency department at Tampa General Hospital and or satellite locations

Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.

Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.

Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine

Candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.

Previous Experience In a Teaching Setting Preferred.
