USF Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) implements policies, procedures and programs designed to protect life, property, and the environment. Position Summary
To collect and properly store hazardous waste generated from campus locations and ensure that waste is transported, accumulated, and shipped according to applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
- Collects and manages hazardous materials/wastes generated at USF System locations. Ensures waste is classified, managed/stored, and transported/shipped according to applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Coordinates with System waste generators regarding compliant waste management practices and associated supplies.
- Generates/maintains regulatory required documentation including waste inspections, manifests, waste tracking, etc. Assists with regulatory required reporting as well as invoice review/approval.
- Acts as a technical resource for USF System faculty, staff, and students regarding hazardous, biomedical, universal, and pharmaceutical waste programs.
- Conducts safety and compliance inspections.
- Provides emergency response support for minor hazardous materials releases.
- Performs other duties as necessary to support the overall mission of Environmental Health & Safety and the University of South Florida.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in a research, research compliance, or safety compliance program; an Associate's degree may substitute for two years of the required
experience. A Bachelor's Degree may substitute for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
B.S. in a Natural Science or Public Health. Two (2) years experience in the environmental health & safety, regulatory compliance field with direct experience in hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and biomedical waste
management.

RCRA hazardous waste training, DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation training
