To support the financial management and operations of the Credit Union through maintenance of accounting records and reports; perform a wide variety of advanced accounting work under minimal supervision. Provide support to the Accounting Specialist and Accountant I & II.
Essential Functions Include :
Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance. Monitors Cash Position. Support the Accountants and serve as their back up as needed. Develop recommendations to optimize systems, procedures and detect inaccuracies.Assists with the month, quarter, and year-end closing process. Accrual posting, Minnesota Life & Securian, Gap & Warranty, FHLB, PSCU Invoice, Lease Crunch. Mortgage Servicing, Investment Portfolio, FSV Invoice, Negative Shares, Excess Shares Calculation, Loan Participation (Purchase, Sell and Remittance). Premium amortization.Maintains Fixed Asset and Prepaid Catalog. Creation of new ID’s, amortizations, disposals, and balancing. Fixed Asset Roll forward.Perform abandoned property functions. Escheatment of accounts and payroll cards.Assists with organizational and program budget preparation and monitoring; performing variance analyses and preparing expense account reports for department leaders. Assist to prepare financial analysis reports.Files required Tax Forms such as Tangible and Real Estate Taxes, 1099 for Vendors.Assist with Audit documentation requests : NCUA, CPA and Internal Audits.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Reports to : Accounting Manager
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and five years of related experience.Master’s degree (MSA or MBA) in Accounting, Finance or relevant field is preferred.Five to Ten (5-10) years of banking experience. Symitar-Core System experience preferred)Good knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Good experience with general ledger functions and the month-end / year end close processGood experience in Banking Accounting software (Oracle-Net Suite Accounting, preferred)Additional Skills :
Proficient in spreadsheet software (Excel) and Word.Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with accuracy and attention to detail.Excellent oral and written skills.Must be experienced and knowledgeable with accounting terms and processes. Problem solver.Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.Work Environment :
