Key Responsibilities:
- Coverage Assessment: Review first notice of loss and policy details to confirm coverage; draft disclaimers and reservation of rights letters as needed.
- Comprehensive Investigations: Conduct in-depth investigations, including liability and damage assessments, witness interviews, scene inspections, and evidence collection.
- Independent Adjuster Coordination: Retain and direct independent adjusters, overseeing all aspects of the investigation process.
- Liability Evaluation: Apply statutory and case law to assess liability exposure and ensure equitable contributions from joint tortfeasors.
- Reserve Management: Maintain accurate reserves, adjusting as claims develop to reflect liability and damages accurately.
- Claims Handling: Proactively manage claim files, negotiate settlements directly with claimants or attorneys, oversee defense counsel, and ensure efficient litigation management.
- Detailed Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reserve authority requests, reinsurance reports, serious loss reports, and coverage position letters.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with underwriting, compliance, and actuarial teams to support sound product management and claim resolutions.
What You’ll Bring:

- Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of insurance coverage, negligence law, and claim evaluation processes.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of relevant experience for Associate Claims Examiner.
- 7 years of relevant experience for Claims Examiner.
- Previous experience as an examiner, adjuster, paralegal, attorney, or in other transferable roles.
- Personal lines experience: Experience in personal lines claims handling is preferred.
- Liability and jurisdiction knowledge: Multi-jurisdictional experience and advanced degrees or JD are a plus.
