Your Role: You’ll play a critical role in evaluating coverage, liability, and damages for each unique claim. You’ll collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders to effectively investigate, negotiate, and resolve claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coverage Assessment: Review the first notice of loss and policy details to confirm coverage; draft disclaimers and reservation of rights letters as needed.
- Comprehensive Investigations: Conduct in-depth claim investigations, including liability and damage evaluations, witness interviews, scene inspections, and evidence collection.
- Independent Adjuster Coordination: Engage and provide direction to independent adjusters while overseeing all aspects of the investigation process.
- Liability Evaluation: Apply statutory and case law to assess liability exposure and ensure joint tortfeasors contribute their fair share.
- Reserve Management: Maintain accurate reserves that reflect evolving liability and damage assessments throughout the claim lifecycle.
- Claims Handling & Litigation Management: Proactively manage claim files, negotiate settlements with claimants or attorneys, oversee defense counsel, and ensure effective litigation strategies.
- Detailed Reporting: Prepare reserve authority requests, reinsurance reports, serious loss reports, and coverage position letters with precision.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with underwriting, compliance, and actuarial teams to support product integrity and risk management.

Qualifications:
- Experience Requirements:
- 2 years of relevant experience for Associate Claims Examiner
- 7 years of relevant experience for Claims Examiner
- Industry Background: Prior experience as an examiner, adjuster, paralegal, attorney, or a related role.
- Specialized Knowledge: Experience handling Directors & Officers (D&O), Errors & Omissions (E&O), Cyber Liability, or other claims-made policies is preferred.
- Additional Credentials: Multi-jurisdictional knowledge, advanced degrees, or a JD are a plus.
