Role Summary
This position is responsible for evaluating coverage, liability, and damages for each claim. You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to conduct thorough investigations, negotiate settlements, and ensure efficient claim resolutions.
Primary ResponsibilitiesCoverage & Investigation
- Review the first notice of loss and policy details to confirm coverage.
- Prepare disclaimers and reservation of rights letters when necessary.
- Conduct detailed claim investigations, including liability and damages assessments.
- Interview witnesses, inspect scenes, and gather relevant evidence.
- Engage and oversee independent adjusters throughout the investigation process.
Claims & Litigation Management
- Analyze liability exposure using statutory and case law.
- Maintain accurate reserves reflecting claim developments.
- Manage claim files proactively, negotiate settlements, and oversee defense counsel.
- Prepare reports such as reserve authority requests, reinsurance reports, serious loss reports, and coverage position letters.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Provide updates and work closely with underwriting, compliance, and actuarial teams to maintain product integrity.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities related to claim evaluation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with stakeholders.
- Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with insurance coverage, negligence law, and claims processes.
Experience Requirements
- Associate Claims Examiner: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Claims Examiner: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
- Prior experience in roles such as examiner, adjuster, paralegal, attorney, or similar positions.
- Experience in personal lines claims handling is preferred.
- Multi-jurisdictional claims knowledge and advanced degrees (e.g., JD) are a plus.
Work Arrangement
This position allows for up to five remote workdays per month.
