Job Description
Position Title: YouthBuild Leadership Development/Life Skills/Community Service Coordinator
Reports To: YouthBuild Program Director
Job Summary: The YouthBuild Leadership Development/Community Service Coordinator is a part-time Ulster YouthBuild position. The position is filled by someone who is committed to working with youth ages 16-24 who are in need of leadership development and life skills training. The LD Coordinator will present a program for leadership development and life skills development of participants, arranging for outside workshop presenters and field trips that serve to enhance such development. Community Service will take place every other Friday to rotate with leadership development. Fridays are a requirement and possession of a valid N.Y.S. Driver’s License is required.
General Responsibilities:
* Plan, organize and implement the leadership development curriculum and life skills workshops along with the community service opportunities. May participate in special projects as required.*
* Maintain a database of community leaders and volunteers interested in presenting LD/LS related workshops*
* Work with other staff to develop both on-site and off-site activities and workshops that will stimulate and develop leadership skills for participants, including planning and implementation of eligible community service-learning projects.*
* On a monthly basis submit to the Program Director a program work plan that outlines the schedule and direction for all Leadership and Life Skills workshops, indicating names of outside presenters where applicable.*
* Develop a list of possible community service projects that participants may participate in that will enhance leadership and life skills development. *
* Provide input for the planning and development of strategies for active recruitment of program participants, including but not limited to implementation of methods of outreach for recruitment. *
* Participate in planned field trips for YouthBuild participants, including community service projects.*
* Participate in staff meetings and regular team review of members.*
* Adhere to all Ulster YouthBuild policies, including but not limited to the YouthBuild Safe and Healthy Workplace policy and implement policies consistently.*
* Perform any other tasks deemed necessary for the effective operation of the program.*
Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Preference may be given for experience working with at-risk youth.
3. Ability to reach out to community leaders for participation in workshops
3. Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a diverse group of young people.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with non-judgmental approach and style.
5. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Access.
6. Ability to work as part of a team to implement the YB model and achieve the best program results.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 21 per week
