POSITION SUMMARY
The Technology Standards Engineer (TSE) plays a key role in ensuring that client IT environments are standardized, secure, and aligned with industry best practices. This position is responsible for on-site client technology assessments, identifying misalignments in IT infrastructure, and working with internal teams to implement proactive solutions. As part of the TruMethods Framework, the TSE is instrumental in reducing reactive support, improving system performance, and driving long-term technology alignment.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role requires regular on-site visits to client locations to complete technology assessments against USM's IT Best Practices.
80% of your time will be spent working at our client sites in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area.
Mileage reimbursement is provided for all work-related travel.
There may be occasional regional travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technology Standards & Alignment
Conduct on-site IT alignment assessments to ensure adherence to best practices, security frameworks, and operational efficiency.
Regularly meet with clients and highlight the value of IT standardization for efficiency, security, and long-term success.
Collaborate with USM Technology’s Technology Strategist to develop IT roadmaps and standardization strategies.
Documentation & Process Improvement
Maintain detailed documentation of client environments, including infrastructure, security measures, and compliance status.
Track and report on client IT metrics, ensuring visibility into system health, performance, and risk areas.
Collaborate with service desk and project teams to implement changes and drive efficiency across client environments.
Contribute to client onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring seamless transitions and IT readiness.
Risk Identification & Compliance
Identify gaps in security, infrastructure, and compliance, escalating issues to internal teams for resolution.
Assist in cybersecurity risk assessments, patch management, and disaster recovery planning.
Provide recommendations for improving IT security posture, reducing downtime and preventing vulnerabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience :
Minimum 4 years of experience in IT management, systems administration, or a similar role.
Familiarity with MSP environments and managing multiple client infrastructures.
Experience working within the TruMethods Framework or a similar IT strategy-focused model.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is desired.
DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS
CompTIA Network , Security , or similar certifications (preferred but not required).
