Job Summary
The School of Social Science and Global Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Political Science to start August 2025. The position is open with respect to substantive research and teaching interests, but priority will be given to candidates who can offer courses in American political institutions, research methods and/or public law. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to working with diverse student and community populations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching and student mentorship and possess a research agenda with clear potential for a sustained record of scholarship leading to peer-reviewed publications.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach three courses per semester in the Fall and Spring.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in undergraduate advisement.
- The successful candidate will also be expected to produce peer reviewed scholarly publications and participate in professional conferences. Presentations at academic conferences are supported with annual travel funds.
- Tenure-track faculty members participate in shared governance, in School, College, and University committees and other service assignments.
- Hold regular office hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
