Qualifications:
- Must possess or obtain DCJS Security Officer Certification (Virginia).
- Previous security or event staff experience preferred.
- Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with Virginia State Police guidelines.
- Ability to stand for long periods and manage crowd situations calmly.
- Excellent communication and situational awareness.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance.
Job Summary:
We are seeking professional, dependable, and detail-oriented Unarmed Security Guards to support events at an Educational Institute. This position involves providing safety, access control, and crowd management at a variety of campus events including concerts, athletic games, student activities, ceremonies, and more.
Your role is to help maintain a secure and welcoming environment for students, staff, and guests. This is an event-based position, ideal for individuals looking for flexible hours, part-time work, or supplemental income in a highly respected public university setting.
General Security responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide unarmed security services during university events.
- Monitor access points and ensure authorized entry.
- Operate weapons detection systems (metal detectors, wands, etc.).
- Perform visual bag checks when required.
- Maintain order and ensure adherence to university safety protocols.
- Assist in emergency or evacuation procedures if necessary.
- Support event operations such as ushering, guest direction, or parking control.
- Ensure professional appearance and courteous interaction with attendees.
- Event-based schedule: evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Both indoor and outdoor assignments.
- Must respond to some events within 2-4 hours of notice (for emergency staffing).
