Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Instrument Specialist to join our team at USPI Golden Ridge Surgery Center in Golden, CO. As a fast-paced, multi-specialty ASC environment, we prioritize producing high-quality work and exceptional patient experiences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning and sterilizing instruments and supplies essential to our operations. If you have a strong background in sterile processing and a commitment to quality, we encourage you to apply.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate Sterilization Standards: Implement AMI standards, IFU's, SDSs, and policies for instrument and supply sterilization.
  2. Explain Current Practices: Provide rationale for current practices and procedures.
  3. Work Independently: Utilize time management skills effectively and work efficiently.
  4. Demonstrate Good Body Mechanics: Maintain safe working posture and prevent injuries.
  5. Address Practice Issues: Speak up to resolve practice-related concerns.
  6. Ensure Instrument Availability: Coordinate the availability of instruments and supplies for cases as needed.
  7. Maintain Autoclaves and Equipment: Ensure adequate functioning and cleaning of autoclaves and other sterilization equipment.
  8. Manage Supplies Effectively: Maintain necessary supplies without waste for the sterilization process.
  9. Document Accurately: Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  10. Facilitate Operating Room Efficiency: Facilitate turnover times to promote operating room efficiency.
  11. Prioritize Personal Safety: Use Standard Universal Precautions, hand hygiene, PPE, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
  12. Participate in Emergency Preparedness: Assist with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participate in emergency preparedness drills.
  13. Comply with Equipment Guidelines: Follow all equipment and safety guidelines, and use equipment knowledgeably and safely.
  14. Interact Effectively with Patients and Staff: Interact appropriately and effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff members regardless of age or ethnic background.
  15. Serve as a Resource: Serve as a resource to other healthcare team members.
  16. Attend Training and Meetings: Attend in-service training, required education, conferences, and meetings to learn new skills as required.
  17. Maintain Patient Confidentiality: Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees, maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality per policy.
  18. Maintain Designated Certifications: Maintain designated certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center.
  19. Adhere to Company Policies: Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center, complying with policies and procedures, and adhering to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.
