TITLE: Accounts Payable Clerk
Part-time, 20 hours a week position.
SUMMARY:
The accounts payable clerk will be responsible for making all accounts payable payments as well as employee reimbursements while maintaining a good relationship with our vendors. Attention to detail is very important in this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Process invoices: Receive, code, process and review invoices, and enter them into the system in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure proper approval of expenses prior to disbursement. Safeguard the credit union's financial assets from fraud, waste and abuse.
- Verify invoices: Check for errors, calculate totals, and verify extensions
- Pay invoices: Process Avid Pay payments
- Reconcile accounts: Review accounts payable exceptions account and resolve discrepancies
- Respond to queries: Answer financial questions from vendors and employees, manage vendor relationships and resolve any related issues
- Prepare reports: Create and reconcile payable reports
- Manage expenses: Oversee expenses for items sold and services provided
- Manage employee payments: Manage the reimbursement payments for employees
- Prepare 1099s: Prepare and issue 1099s at the end of the year
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Maintain balanced records, reconcile exception items, and complete all accounting, administrative, and clerical requirements in a timely manner. Maintain documentation that provides for an easy audit trail. Professional appearance and attitude, works as a team member.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma and 1 - 2 years' experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to members, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
None required.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to operate office equipment such as: fax machine, photocopier, typewriter, personal computer, adding machine, telephone, and laser printer. Understanding of credit union's core processing system in order to process both accounting and member service transactions. Must have a functional understanding of Excel.
