SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting in the improvement of the productivity of the credit union's .employees, including effective development, coordination and presentation of the training and development programs. Assists in the assessment of developmental needs that will drive training initiatives. Actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate and enhance performance.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Performs ongoing training needs analysis based on credit union objectives and job performance requirements.
  • Conducts training classes on products/services, policies, and procedures for credit union staff based on the overall business plan and needs of the organization, including train-the-trainer classes as required.
  • Provides real-time feedback in accordance with the credit union's sales and service initiative; identifies coaching opportunities and communicates those following the appropriate chain of command.
  • Creates interactive, effective training presentations. Develops instructional materials and aids. Uses innovative learning solutions to improve learning content, delivery approaches, and training effectiveness.
  • Creates soft skills training, including coaching skills, interpersonal communication, and personal accountability, to support the sales and service effort.
  • Monitors consistency and quality of training materials for accuracy and relevance to credit union objectives. Assesses training effectiveness to ensure transfer of learning and to improve the training process.
  • Maintains training tracking; records classes and attendees, and reports as required by regulation and credit union management.
  • Provides in-person support to branches and contact center when necessary.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

Design and deliver effective, accurate, and consistent training and orientation programs. Must know the principles of training and learning; must know how to apply them in a variety of situations; must know how to evaluate training results and to identify and provide necessary follow-up.

Must relate well with all staff regardless of rank or position; exhibit excellent interpersonal skills in communicating orally to all staff; write clearly, concisely and correctly in communicating all information. Is organized at all times; effectively prioritize tasks to ensure their timely completion. Must be able to deliver customized training and orientation programs that have been thoroughly developed.

Is a leader in recognizing member needs and has a thorough knowledge of credit union products, services, and ancillary programs. Exercises confidentiality when working with staff members. Recognizes and adjusts instruction to best suit the needs of each student.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A high school degree or GED equivalent required. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a related field preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Articulate, engaging, influential speaker; able to convey both technical and non-technical material in a clear, concise manner. Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulatory instructions, policy manuals, task documentation, and procedure manuals. Exceptional ability to write clearly and concisely in developing training manuals and exercises, as well as in producing routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before various groups.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


TECHNICAL SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to operate office equipment and software used in word processing, as well as laser printers, photocopiers, telephones, voice mail, email, Internet and fax machines, etc.

  • Fully capable of operating audio visual equipment such as Symposium, Smart Board, television, overhead projector, camcorder, and video projection apparatus, etc.
  • Exceptional knowledge in word processing and presentation software, spreadsheet, and other software programs used in training.
  • Fully knowledgeable in credit union terminology and acronyms commonly utilized in the day to day communication of staff, policymakers and others involved in the credit union system, or the ability to learn.
  • Ability to learn, comprehend and train on data processing software.

PERFORMANCE SKILLS:

  • Ability to manage time; coordinate several projects at once; multitask.
  • Able to follow established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to deal with all levels and departments of the organization.
  • Able to present information to trainees in such a way that ensures transfer of learning.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
