The position involves guiding multi-functional teams, fostering collaboration across departments, and mentoring junior staff to build organizational capacity for future growth. Responsibilities
- Lead strategic IT projects with a focus on enterprise impact, from initiation through delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Develop and implement project plans, aligning resources and technology with the university’s strategic vision.
- Provide expertise in IT governance and portfolio management, ensuring that IT investments deliver value and meet organizational needs.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to university leadership, contributing to decision-making processes on IT systems and operations.
- Oversee and manage IT systems supporting a large-scale training infrastructure, including databases, learning management systems (LMS), and websites.
- Ensure the seamless integration of LMS platforms with existing systems, focusing on usability, data integrity, and scalability.
- Manage the design, maintenance, and optimization of training-related IT infrastructure, including web-based tools and database systems for tracking participation and outcomes.
- Mentor and train junior staff and team members, sharing expertise and building internal capacity for long-term success.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and university stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment of priorities.
- Continuously evaluate and improve IT processes, identifying opportunities for innovation and increased efficiency.
- Oversee vendor relationships and contracts, ensuring that partnerships support project goals and university standards.
- Perform all other job duties as assigned.
- Sound program management, project management, IT governance, and enterprise portfolio management knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret complex information and clearly present information to non-technical users.
- Skilled in facilitating and managing product and software evaluations, RFPs, contracting and procurement.
- Skilled in multiple systems which include purchased packages, SAAS, complex relational database systems, and web based systems.
- Proficiency with PeopleSoft ERP systems, and data warehouse systems, and cloud-based solutions.
- Advanced technical proficiency in developing solutions that improve IT workflows, process efficiency, and service delivery.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to rapidly facilitate, isolate and solve computer or application system issues.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and presenting to executive leadership, effectively translating technical concepts into actionable insights.
- Self-directed and result oriented; takes ownership for deliverables and deadlines while collaboratively keeping team members focused and on tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor staff, and rive innovation in collaborative environment.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant project management software and all Microsoft Office supporting products and advanced reporting tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
- Master's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related preferred.
- Five (5) years experience managing all aspects of the development and implementation of system projects is required.
- Extensive experience (15 years) leading IT project management initiatives, particularity in higher education settings, with a proven record of delivering enterprise wide solutions preferred.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
