What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infectious Diseases Physician position at UT Southwestern Medical Center?
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine, is seeking an Infectious Diseases Specialist. Applicants must have an M.D. degree, or equivalent, from an approved LCME medical school, and have satisfactorily completed an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine residency and an Infectious Diseases fellowship program. Candidates must be eligible for Texas medical licensure and be board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-certified/eligible in Infectious Diseases.
The primary roles and responsibilities will be to provide patient care on UT Southwestern Infectious Diseases Inpatient Consultation services primarily at Parkland Health. The candidate will be expected to help develop the Parkland bone and joint ID Consult service and coordinate with the development of the CUH bone and joint ID Consult services. The successful candidate will also provide care at the UTSW Infectious Disease Clinic and/or the Parkland Infectious Disease Clinic. Candidates will also be expected to develop an academic program that focuses on antimicrobial stewardship, quality patient care, outcomes, or other clinically oriented research. Other duties can include sharing attending duties on General Infectious Diseases, HIV services, and Bone & Joint Consult services. Participation in the teaching and training of medical and physician assistant students, residents, and ID fellows is also expected.
