The Opportunity:
Under general guidance and direction of the Mosquito Abatement Manager, oversees and coordinates aircraft aerial larval spray operations. Operates and maintains equipment for aerial spray operations, including unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Provides field instruction and guidance to seasonal employees. Assists with laboratory functions, as needed. Incumbents serving in this classification may provide related support to multiple County departments during the off season.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., May require occasional nights and weekends

Job Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two (2) years of experience working in mosquito abatement, agriculture, pesticide application, or a related field.
3. Two (2) years of experience in drone operations.
4. Demonstrated competence in operating unmanned aircraft systems.
5. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered, but education may not substitute for experience in drone operations.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
1. Applicants must possess a Remote Pilot Certificate under the Federal Aviation Administration’s Small UAS Rule (Part 107) with a minimum of fifty (50) hours of logged and verifiable flight records.
2. Selected applicants must possess or obtain a Utah Aerial Applicators License and a Pesticide Applicators License issued by the Utah State Department of Agriculture in the appropriate subcategories within the probationary period for new hires or trial period for promoted County employees.
3. Selected applicants must complete the Leading Edge Aerial Technologies Aerial Application Course or its equivalent within the probationary period for new hires or trial period for promoted County employees.
4. Incumbents must maintain all certifications and licenses, including completing all ongoing continuing education requirements for license/certification renewal.
5. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and obtain a valid State of Utah driver’s license within sixty (60) days of employment.
6. Selected applicants will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
7. Selected applicants shall be strongly encouraged to receive immunizations according to the Center for Disease Control and/or County Health Department Policy.
