What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus Recreation Coordinator - Intramural Sports position at Utah Tech University?
This Campus Recreation Coordinator supervises the Intramural Sports program and associated personnel to ensure the program continues to offer a wide variety of programming for Utah Tech University (UT) students, as well as running a professional, well-organized system that complies with university policies and procedures and ensure programs achieve the benchmarks set forth by the department and university. Manages all aspects of the Intramural Sports program within the Campus Recreation area, including organizing new Intramural events/leagues, operations of current Intramural events/leagues, compliance, community engagement, risk management and other program operations.
- Coordinate the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of Intramural Sport employees.
- Work with the Director of Campus Recreation in development of programming forms, sport equipment inventory, and revisions of Intramural sport rules.
- Develop, coordinate, and lead training clinics for Intramural Sport employees.
- Enforce rules and regulations to eliminate any unsafe actions.
- Aid the Campus Recreation Director with various Campus Recreation tasks, events, and activities as assigned.
- Oversee the ongoing evaluation of all related programs, including completing participant evaluations and/or assessments, focus groups, informal discussion, and written program surveys. Recommend and implement future modifications, based on evaluation feedback.
- Direct/Manage all aspects of the Intramural Sports program.
- Maintain leadership and supervision of assigned personnel in the implementation of Intramural Sports Programming and facility/recreational operations.
- Create and scheduling Intramural events/activities.
- Coordinate the implementation of annual Campus Recreation events associated with university Homecoming week and D-week; including but not limited to The Great Race, Powderpuff Flag Football and other special events that promote and reinforce the missions and goals of the Campus Recreation department.
- Directly or indirectly hiring, training, and supervising Intramural sports employees.
- Strategize and develop a comprehensive plan for Intramural sports programming.
- Develop action plans and marketing strategies to engage active Intramural sports participants, attract new members and promote recreational programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in related field (Physical Education, Business, Communication, Recreation and Sport Management, etc.) required.
- At least one (1) year of related work experience required; experience working with a higher education environment and/or specifically overseeing Intramural sports (and associated events) preferred.
- Good computer and business skills, particularly with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience working with Campus Recreation and Intramural sports software preferred, specifically IMLeagues and Innosoft Fusion recreation management software.
- Experience developing programs and marketing intramural programs preferred.
- Knowledge of University administration, UT policies and procedures, and the principles and practices of intramural sports, club sports, and campus recreation.
- Must be well organized and capable of coordinating numerous ongoing tasks, projects and programs.
- Ability to work well with various stakeholders, both internal to the campus and external, to coordinate Intramural sports, including scheduling referees and other officials, for smooth processing of intramural activities.
- Excellent customer service skills, with ability to exercise good human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with university employees, students, and the public.
- Ability to effectively hire, train, and manage part-time employees.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as event schedule requires.
