About Utah Valley Refugees
Utah Valley Refugees a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Utah County. UVR resettles refugees through its affiliate Church World Services, and helps them access education, healthcare, employment and housing.
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteers who are fluent in one of the following languages :
Swahili
Arabic
Dari / Farsi
French
This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of new refugee families and contribute to their learning and integration into the community.
Responsibilities :
Provide interpretation for case managers and their refugee clients during intake appointments, airport pickups, job interviews, healthcare appointments, and cultural orientation classes
Help translate documents as needed
Qualifications :
Fluent in either Spanish, Haitian Creole, Dari, Arabic, Ukrainian or Swahili language (native or near-native proficiency) AND fluent in English
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Flexible schedule and responsive to on-call interpretation needs as well as being dependable for scheduled interpretation needs
Patient, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach to teaching and learning
Commitment to the mission and values of the organization and the refugee community.
