Summary
The Purchasing Supervisor supervises the daily activities of the purchasing function. Maintain relationships with vendors or suppliers and negotiates contracts for more complex purchase orders. Evaluates and analyzes purchasing trends and price trends to identify forecast demand and minimize purchasing costs.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Evaluates bids, ensuring compliance with departmental and company policies and procedures.
- Distributes purchasing information to involved parties including vendors, sales representatives, and employees.
- Reviews and evaluates purchase request forms for accuracy and completeness.
- Gathers, records, and completes purchase data.
- Purchase commodities as assigned by the Purchasing Manager, utilizing negotiating skills to obtain the most
- competitive price while maintaining specified quality standards and delivery requirements.
- Creates and maintains working relationships with our vendors.
- Reads blueprints.
- Tracks and records cost savings in the system for both hard and soft savings.
- Filing all documentation and quotes for audit purposes along with confirmation of the Purchase Order.
- Follows-up reviewing all open orders and tracks Quality, Delivery of suppliers.
- Works with the Shipping and Receiving department to arrange transportation of purchases.
- Creates and maintains RMA’s, should there be any issues.
- Works with Accounting and Shipping to return RMA’s.
- Inspects exchanged or refunded merchandise and works with inventory control to reduce the inventory levels.
- Adheres to the Quality Systems and participates in continuous improvement.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervise all employees in the Purchasing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training. employees and sub-contractors; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and / or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 10-years related experience
and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
