We are looking for a Full-Time Public Safety Officer to join the UT Police Department in Houston, TX. The primary purpose of the Public Safety Officer position is to screen all persons entering the facilities of the University for proper identification. Through observation and patrol, safeguard institutional property, identify security issues and enforce institutional rules and regulations. In emergencies, facilitate the orderly evacuation of the buildings and structures.

Position Key Accountabilities:
Essential Functions
- Patrol: Patrols university buildings and property on foot to prevent theft, vandalism or fire.
- Calls for Service: Responds to calls for service and provides requested services in a timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Screening: Actively screens all persons entering university facilities; challenges persons without appropriate identification and all suspicious persons.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer One or more levels of certification (Certified Healthcare Security Officer, Certified Advancd Healthcare Security Offficer, or Certified Health Security Supervisor) required
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required Some college preferred
Minimum Experience:
- 1 year of experience in a customer-focused position required 2 years of experience in a customer-focused position preferred None with preferred education
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
