Assistant Medical Director of Clinical Staffing and Operations
The Department of Anesthesiology, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio seeks to hire a faculty physician leader as the Assistant Medical Director of Clinical Staffing and Operations to fulfill the Department's mission of providing clinical anesthesia, perioperative medicine, and pain management services at University Hospital, an Adult and Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center serving South Texas and San Antonio.
The Assistant Medical Director will support the Anesthesia Medical Director in overseeing the anesthesia services within our institution. This role involves clinical leadership, administrative responsibilities, and strategic planning to ensure the highest quality of patient care and operational efficiency. A central focus of the role is oversight of departmental scheduling team production of the physician monthly schedule to include call assignments. The Assistant Medical Director will work closely with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, departmental leadership, and hospital management to optimize anesthesia practices.
Administrative Duties :
- Review and finalize physician call schedules drafted by the department scheduling team and director of perioperative informatics.
- Supervise allotment of high-demand vacation weeks / professional meetings per policy in conjunction with department scheduling team and Vice Chair for Education.
- Optimize staffing models for efficient and reliable anesthesia coverage contract performance in conjunction with department administrative team.
- Interface with the Education Division to coordinate resident staffing in conjunction with operational and educational priorities.
- Interface with the Chief CRNAs to coordinate CRNA staffing in conjunction with operational and educational priorities.
- Provide feedback to the Medical Director on measures to improve service delivery and satisfaction.
- Support the implementation of new technologies and practices in anesthesia care.
