Utili-Serve is seeking a Human Resources Generalist
Position Summary
Reporting to the Human Resources Director (HRD), the Human Resources Generalist (HRG) performs both tactical and strategic responsibilities in the day-to-day operation of the human resources department. The HRG will assist the HRD in the coordination of human resources activities such as: recruitment and talent acquisition; onboarding and offboarding; administration of compensation and benefit plans/programs; performance evaluations; employee relations; staff training and development; safety programming; personnel policy/procedure development, administration, execution; compliance with applicable human resource federal and state laws, regulations, and requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide necessary support and organization for the daily operations of the Human Resources Department with the assistance of other HR support staff.
- Coordinate the following employment processes: advertising, recruiting, selection, onboarding, new hire orientation and offboarding.
- Collect, enter, maintain, and audit employee data records in Paycom payroll/human resources information system.
- Administer health, welfare, and other benefit programs by determining eligibility, completing enrollments and life event changes, communicating to employees and vendors, coordinating payroll deductions, completing, and submitting claim forms, assisting employees in resolving claim issues and ensuring compliance.
- Coordinate and facilitate the annual benefits open enrollment process.
- Process and manage FMLA and other leave requests.
- Gather data and complete reporting for internal/external requests.
- Develop an excellent working knowledge of company employee handbook/personnel policies/processes/programs and effectively administer new and modified versions.
- Develop and implement effective and easy to understand HR and benefit forms for employee use.
- Work with hiring managers as needed in the recruitment of qualified applicants.
- Ensure that the company’s employment policies and benefit programs are in compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Assist in maintaining company-wide Accountability/Organizational Charts and job descriptions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned/requested.
Qualifications
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong combination of skills in administration, communication, coordination, and organization.
- Working knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the company’s payroll/human resource information systems (HRIS) - Paycom.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in a human resources related field; HRCI or SHRM certification desired; bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
Experience: At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in human resources as a generalist, coordinator, or talent acquisition specialist is necessary. Prior experience in the utility power services construction sector is desired.
