UMS provides utility rate consulting and bill auditing services. This involves helping organizations reduce their electric, natural gas, and water utility costs by finding errors and overcharges in their bills and by finding lower available rate plans. This service is typically on a no-risk / contingency basis, whereby UMS simply shares in any savings identified.
Our mission is to serve as our client's advocate when it comes to complex utility billing structures.
Responsibilities:
UMS is growing its Marketing & Sales department. Recently UMS celebrated its 27th year in business and is looking into the future with the creation of new marketing strategies alongside a growing sales team. As a member of both the Sales & Marketing Teams, the Marketing Intern’s role is to assist in the daily tasks and projects needed by the Marketing Specialist and Sales Manager that are essential to generating new business. Responsibilities will primarily include, but not be limited to:
- Copywriting/proofreading of new marketing materials
- Aid in pulling digital marketing analytics
- Support Independent Account Managers by sending requested marketing collateral – digital and printed
- Aid in the management of marketing inventory for printed material and promotional items
- Shadow sales professionals to learn sales techniques
- Manage social media accounts – LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram
- Oversee website chatbot
- Provide input in planning marketing strategies
- Assist in event planning
- Conduct lead research
- Update sales records in CRM
- Assist as needed with incoming sales contracts
- Participate in company meetings and events when applicable
- Other responsibilities as needed
An effective Marketing Intern will demonstrate:

- Excellent judgment in working with clients, Managers, Account Managers, and other staff members

- Competent in MS Office, Canva, and Salesforce

- Familiarity with Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn analytics
An effective Marketing Intern must have:
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program for Marketing, Communications, Sales, or a similar field
- Transportation to and from the UMS office on designated office days
