Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will work closely with healthcare professionals in a variety of environments, including Level I Trauma Centers, inpatient units, and outpatient facilities. This role is vital in ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care, particularly in areas such as emergency medicine, hospital medicine, and medical-surgical units.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Support nursing staff with patient care tasks in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients during their recovery process.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Assist in transporting patients within the facility as needed.
- Participate in patient education initiatives under the guidance of healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure comprehensive care for all patients.
Skills
- Strong understanding of clinical environments, including experience in Level I Trauma Centers and teaching hospitals.
- Familiarity with emergency medicine practices and protocols.
- Experience working in various settings such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and medical-surgical units.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and patience while providing care to diverse patient populations.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology related to inpatient and outpatient care.
