Job Summary:

The Mead Witter School of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a 66%-time Lecturer of Music Production. Preference will be given to candidates with experience of successful teaching at the advanced level and significant experience in the field of digital music production. We seek a colleague who will join a nationally renowned faculty and staff and contribute to our program through teaching courses that develop and support a wide range of musical endeavors.

The instructor in this course will be expected to perform the following duties:

Instruction:

  • Teach 2 classes or class sections in the Music Production and Technology area, per semester.
  • Hold regular Office Hours

Department/Area Responsibilities:

  • Attend all departmental and area meetings as required
  • Supervise teaching assistants

Responsibilities: Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

  • 40% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • 30% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • 20% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
  • 10% Oversees the maintenance of the music production studio/ classroom

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have the following required skills and experiences:

  • Strong commitment to teaching excellence at undergraduate and master's levels
  • One year of instructional experience at a college or university
  • An enthusiasm for collaborative learning environments
  • An interest in educational technologies and innovation
  • Demonstrated proficiency with tools and software necessary for music production

Well-qualified candidates will have the following preferred skills and experience:

  • 3 years of instructional experience at a college or university
  • 3 years of direct professional experience in music production
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with all persons with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. This includes but is not limited to the general public, students, staff, and collaborating partners.

Part Time: 66.7%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $50,000 ACADEMIC (9 months)

Depending On Qualifications

The typical starting salary for this position is $33,350 depending on qualifications and experience. This rate has been adjusted to reflect the part time hours for this role. The salary will be paid out over 9 months. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as sick leave; competitive insurance and saving accounts; and retirement benefits. Employees have the option to continue benefits for the full calendar year
