Full Job Description:
The Safety Coordinator will provide direction, consultation and oversight for the managing partners and implementation of our safety programs, policies and procedures. This individual will assist in the development of objectives, plans and procedures for safety compliance, along with investigating accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Assists, plans, and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including OSHA, MSHA, and Department of Transportation.
- Perform safety inspections and surveys insuring safe and healthy working environments for employees.
- Prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where needed and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Works in coordination with management on safety meetings to discuss safety issues, support programs and projects, and advises on safety compliance concerns and/or preventative actions.
- Facilitates appropriate safety and health training for all employees, as well as accident prevention and investigation training for superintendents and foremen.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of claims, safety incidents, and compliance documentation for reporting purposes.
- Works with superintendents and foremen in conducting accident investigations and reports back to management.
- Oversee and distribute weekly toolbox talks to all employees.
- Finalize new employee onboarding with required safety training, information, and PPE.
- Will require day or night work pending operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to walk frequently on uneven surfaces, exposed to varying weather conditions.
- Ability to frequently ascend or descend ladders, and stairs using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and squat frequently.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and management.
- Ability to work long hours out-of-doors, in changing environmental/weather conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, such as hearing protectors, steel toe boots, and other safety items as necessary.
- Ability to perform basic computer skills to complete forms digitally.
- Ability to work both day and night shifts as required by operations at that time.
