We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled, and passionate Gymnastics Instructor to join our coaching team and inspire the next generation of competitive gymnasts.
Job Description
The Competitive Developmental Program Gymnastics Instructor will be responsible for coaching athletes, collaborating or creating lesson plans, and attending competitions. This position focuses on building strength, flexibility, and technical skills while promoting confidence, perseverance, and a love for the sport. The ideal candidate will create an encouraging environment while maintaining high expectations for athlete development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and lead training sessions for athletes in the Competitive Developmental Program.
- Teach foundational and progressive gymnastics skills on all four women's apparatus (vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor)
- Ensure athlete safety by following proper spotting techniques, equipment checks, and risk management protocols.
- Motivate and inspire athletes to achieve individual and team goals.
- Assess athlete progress, provide feedback, and adjust training plans accordingly.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and disciplined team culture.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and team staff.
- Stay current with industry best practices and gymnastics training techniques.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience coaching gymnastics at the developmental, pre-team, or XCEL level.
- Knowledge of proper progressions, techniques, and safety practices for all gymnastics apparatus.
- Ability to spot athletes safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- 5 years experience with the USA Gymnastics Developmental Program (formerly JO) or Xcel Program.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles specific to gymnastics.
- Certification through USA Gymnastics Safety and Risk Management or willingness to obtain.
- Patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for working with children of various ages and abilities.
- Ability to create an engaging and positive training atmosphere that supports both athletic and personal growth.
Pay
The hiring wage will be based on experience, both in the number of years coaching and the level(s) the candidate has worked with.
