An Air Traffic Manager Shift Lead (AMSL) is a senior air traffic control professional responsible for overseeing all aspects of air traffic management within a specific shift at an airport or air traffic control facility, ensuring safe and efficient aircraft movement by directing controllers, coordinating with other agencies, and maintaining situational awareness during their assigned shift, often acting as the primary decision-maker in critical situations. Implement airfield operations, safety, and support for AAAF IAW Ascension Airfield Operation Instructions, AFMAN 13-204 Volumes 1 and 3, DAFMAN 13-204 Volumes 2 and 4 (and USSF and Servicing MAJCOM Supplements), DAFI 91-202, DAFI 91-212, locally derived Airfield Operation Instructions, and SLD 45 Management Plan 91-2-12.

Responsibilities
Major Job Activities :
Operational Management :
- Maintain situational awareness of all aircraft movements within their assigned airspace, utilizing radar systems and other tools to track flight paths.
- Make timely decisions regarding aircraft sequencing, separation standards, and conflict resolution to ensure safety.
- Coordinate with other air traffic control facilities, ground crews, and weather services to maintain smooth operations.
- Implement emergency procedures in case of aircraft emergencies, coordinating with relevant authorities.
Safety Oversight :
Actively monitor for potential safety hazards and take corrective action when necessary.Ensure adherence to all air traffic control regulations and procedures.Conduct regular safety checks and briefings with controllers to reinforce safety protocols.Administrative Tasks :
Review and analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.Maintain accurate documentation of air traffic control activities, including incidents and unusual occurrences.Participate in training programs and stay updated on new procedures and technologies.Working Environment :
Typically based in an air traffic control facility with a demanding work schedule including rotating shifts, holidays, and potential overtime.Requires high levels of concentration and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.Qualifications
Experience / Skills :
3 years of experience as a certified air traffic controller, executing Airfield Management Operations Supervisor (AMOS) and / or Shift Lead (AMSL) lead duties and responsibilities IAW 1C7 Career Field Education and Training Plan (CFETP) and AFMAN 13-204 v1 & DAFMAN 13-204 v2, and already possess an USAF AMSL / AMOS certification (or have equivalent education and experience) executing Airfield Management duties that correlate to tasks in the Airfield Management Operations Coordinator (AMOC) and AMSL / AMOS Position Certification Guide (PC D emonstrating proficiency in managing complex airspace environments.The only current acceptable civilian equivalent is the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Airport Certified Employee (ACE).Personnel with prior U.S. Army, Navy, or Marine experience must provide training records and certificates from their respective branch detailing equivalency.Must be a US citizen to obtain Secret Clearance.Decision-Making Skills : Excellent judgment and the ability to make rapid, informed decisions under time constraints.Communication Skills : Clear and concise communication skills to effectively coordinate with other controllers, pilots, and support personnel.Technical Proficiency : Thorough understanding of air traffic control systems, radar technology, and relevant operational proceduresSupervisory Responsibilities :
