Responsibilities
POSITION: TECHNICAL WRITER
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Produce and maintain ready-for-publication end-user product documentation. Maintain online documentation storage system.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Produces and maintains ready-for-publication, print and web-based user/operator and training manuals from source material gathered from engineering resources and other technical information.
- End User Guides
- Release Notes
- Training Documentation
- Produces and maintains product cut sheets for sales and engineering teams
- Coordinates with engineering, technical services, marketing and other important stakeholders to determine required content.
- Interfaces with engineers, product specialists, and product test department familiar with installation and operation methods presently utilized
- Reacts effectively to change and performs other related duties as directed.
- Creates simple illustrations, flow charts, graphs and tables as needed for work products
- Establishes and maintains style guides and other related standards
- Fluently discusses the technical attributes associated with security solutions with both subject matter experts and customers
- Maintain and administer online documentation management portal
- Maintain employee training records
- Create, print, and mail customer training certificates
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 2-3 Years Technical Writing Experience
- Desktop publishing and MS Office expertise
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and present effectively.
- High analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated success at creative design (brochures, marketing materials, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Able to make sound decisions.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with various team members and departments.
- Self starter.
- Proven ability to continually adapt and learn new procedures and software programs.
