Staff Accountant

Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Tempe, AZ
Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 per year

Vaco Phoenix is partnering with a growing client in Tempe, AZ, to identify a skilled Staff Accountant for an onsite, contract-to-hire opportunity. This position is well-suited for someone with strong accounting experience who thrives in a detail-oriented and fast-paced environment. A degree is not required-we're looking for 3-5 years of solid experience and proficiency with large ERP systems like Sage.

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  Perform general ledger accounting duties, including journal entries and reconciliations
• 
  Support the month-end and year-end close processes
• 
  Prepare financial reports and assist with financial statement production
• 
  Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
• 
  Manage accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets
• 
  Assist with internal and external audit requests
• 
  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data
• 
  Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  3-5 years of hands-on accounting experience
• 
  Experience with a large ERP system (Sage ERP strongly preferred)
• 
  Strong Microsoft Excel skills and working knowledge of GAAP
• 
  Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
• 
  Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently
