What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Revenue Accounting position at vailresorts.valhalla.stage?
The Director of Revenue Accounting is responsible for the leadership, oversight and compliance of the following functions: Revenue Accounting (Clubs, Strategic Alliance, Season Passes, etc.), Revenue Audit, Vault Management and Reporting.
Through Vail Resorts core leadership competencies, the Director of Revenue Accounting will:
- Drive: Manage all aspects of Vail Resorts Revenue Accounting function. Ensure that the accounting performed by the groups is accurate, timely, completed in accordance with GAAP and processes are SOX compliant. Develop and monitor key performance indicators for each of the groups to ensure they are meeting or exceeding best practices standards for the industry. Ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of all financial reporting including weekly reporting to the Executive Committee, Board and Audit Committee materials, and forecasting of Financial and Cash Flow results.
- Re-Imagine: Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the systems and processes related to all areas of responsibility. Identify areas for process improvement including improvement of controls to ensure company policies are being followed (i.e. capital expenditures). Bring new ideas, methods, and approaches to Vail Resorts Revenue Accounting.
- Connect: Inspire trust and establish strong relationships with all stakeholders including Corporate Finance team, Mountain Finance teams, Product Management, Information technology, Senior Management and Revenue Accounting team. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to drive business outcomes. Leverage your relationships to influence key business decisions. Maintain a high level of communication with all stakeholders.
- Out Front: Serve as the “thought leader” in aligning the function with our business objectives and with stakeholder expectations. Anticipate the needs of the business. Identify potential revenue recognition issues and prepare thoughtful, comprehensive recommendations for resolution.
- Develop: Provide leadership and direction to the team. Identify coaching and mentoring opportunities. Foster and develop a culture of teamwork, employee development and accountability. Educate business stakeholders on best practices.

Requirements:
- BS in Accounting or Finance
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including oversight of revenue accounting function
- 5 years supervisory experience
- CPA preferred
- Understanding and applicability of SOX and GAAP
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Technical acumen to understand impacts of business systems
- Process-oriented
- Experience with inventory accounting, revenue recognition principles, lodging accounting, PeopleSoft, point of sale systems
- Shared services background
