Vail Mountain Dining Pastry Assistant, Game Creek - Winter Seasonal, Full Time
Nestled just below Eagle's Nest and just above the Game Creek chair lift, Game Creek Restaurant is a truly unique location where guests can enjoy a gourmet dinner and an exceptional dining experience while overlooking the beautiful Game Creek Bowl. Game Creek Restaurant offers delectable, five-star, distinctive American cuisine complimented by an award-winning wine list and superior service. This breathtaking European chalet-style restaurant is accessible only by snowcat in the winter.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Responsible for the efficient supervision of associates and pastry production in the absence of the Pastry Chef.
- Oversees and participates in the production of all pastry and baking needs for the club and restaurant as designated by the Pastry Chef and the Executive Chef
- Delegates and supervises production to associates to produce a quality product in a timely manner, and in accordance with the policies and procedures of fair treatment set forth by Vail Mountain Dining
- Observes and supervises all safety and ServSafe rules to maintain a healthy and accident-free environment in the pastry cooking and preparation areas
- Produces bakery products for Dawnbuster events in a quality and timely manner
- Responsible for from-scratch breakfast bakeries, jams and preserves and other products as directed by the Pastry Chef and the Executive Chef
- Produces pastries, breads and bakeries for Club lunch and buffet
- Meets and initiates feedback from members during lunch to identify well received items that could be signature, and to find out special needs
- Produces and serves dinner breads, plated desserts, ice creams/sorbets, mignardies, children’s desserts and any special requests
- Produces pastries, breads and bakeries as needed for all banquet and special events as needed
- Responds positively and efficiently to specially requested cakes and all pop-up special needs requests
- Maintains a positive and optimistic attitude as an example to supervised associates and the rest of the Game Creek staff
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent - required.
- Must be fluent in English - required.
- Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs - required.
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours - required.
- Team oriented attitude is a must.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays including: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, December 26th through January 2nd, Presidents’ Day Weekend, and any other holidays as requested - required.
- 2 years pastry experience in a fast-paced, fine dining restaurant - preferred.
- ServSafe certification - preferred.
