Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Apigee Architect to lead and drive the design, development, and deployment of Apigee API management solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in API management, Apigee Edge, cloud platforms, and microservices architecture. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and leadership to deliver robust, secure, and scalable API solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Apigee Edge API management solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Lead the architecture of complex API ecosystems, including API gateways, microservices, and integrations.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to define API strategies and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Create and manage API proxy configurations, policies, and security settings (e.g., OAuth, rate-limiting, caching).
- Provide guidance and support for API lifecycle management, from design and implementation to deployment and monitoring.
- Establish best practices for API versioning, monitoring, and management within Apigee.
- Integrate Apigee with backend services, databases, and third-party systems, ensuring seamless functionality.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and optimize API issues across environments (development, test, production).
- Lead efforts for API documentation, training, and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay up to date with Apigee and API management trends, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance system performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10 years of experience in API management, with a focus on Apigee Edge (Apigee X or Apigee hybrid is a plus).
- Strong experience in designing and architecting API solutions, including API gateways, microservices, and cloud-native applications.
- Expertise in API security protocols such as OAuth, JWT, and OpenID Connect.
- Proficient in RESTful API design, JSON, XML, and API testing frameworks (Postman, SoapUI, etc.).
- Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform root-cause analysis on API performance or functional issues.
- Experience in integrating Apigee with other enterprise systems like CRM, ERP, and databases.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
