Summary
The National Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the sales operations and strategies for North America, with a focus on developing and implementing strategic sales plans to meet corporate goals. This leadership position requires a combination of strategic thinking, strong management skills, and industry expertise to drive sales performance, foster customer relationships, and expand market presence.
Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve corporate goals and drive growth.
- Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals for domestic sales managers.
- Review market analysis data to understand customer needs, pricing schedules, and discount structures.
Sales Program Management:
- Lead staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales programs effectively.
- Direct channel development activities, including establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
- Formulate and enforce policies based on sales statistics to guide North American sales managers and representatives in driving sales.
Customer Engagement & Relations:
- Meet with key clients and assist sales managers and representatives in maintaining strong relationships, negotiating, and closing deals.
- Represent the company at trade association meetings to promote products and enhance visibility in the market.
- Deliver impactful sales presentations to key clients in collaboration with sales managers and representatives.
Coordination & Reporting:
- Coordinate efforts between the sales department and other related units to ensure smooth operations and alignment.
- Prepare and deliver periodic sales reports, including sales volume, potential sales, and strategies for client base expansion.
- Analyze and monitor the activities and products of competitors to maintain competitive positioning.
Budget & Expenditure Management:
- Monitor and control department expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
- Assist in the preparation of technical manuals and publications in collaboration with other departments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university required.
- A minimum of 10 years of related experience in the manufacturing or water and wastewater industry, preferably in a representative-based sales model.
- Prior experience in sales leadership and managing teams is highly preferred.
- Must be able to travel 50% of the time, including both air and auto travel, to visit clients, attend trade shows, and participate in industry conferences.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
Required Skills and Knowledge:

- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Project Database Tools (Dodge), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Software.

- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents and governmental regulations. Skilled in presenting information to various stakeholders, including managers, clients, and the general public.
- Policy & Legal: Ability to set and administer department operations, pricing strategies, and sales policies. In-depth knowledge of developing and enforcing business-to-business contracts and representative agreements.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The co-worker is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Wages $120,000 with bonus opportunity
