About the role:
As a Purchasing Intern, you will be responsible for sending quotes, rescheduling, and purchasing order placement and transition planning for commodities, As a Purchasing Intern, you will create purchase orders, spot buy purchase orders, review overstock reports, open orders, and expedite reports.
We are looking for a year-round Purchasing intern who is available to start as soon as possible on a part-time basis throughout the school year then transition to full-time throughout the summer.
Responsibilities Also Include:
- You will get hands-on training from a senior colleague for main purchasing activities linked to new projects (price comparisons, sourcing, contracting, data management in SAP and other IT systems)
- You will support reporting activities (external purchasing index, project purchasing index) and gradually taking over some of them.
- You will support standard new projects activities: parts entry in SAP, support of procurement activities, etc
- You will support development of new mechanical components
- You will communicate regularly and build relationships with suppliers and Valeo cross functional teams.
- You will find and implement improvements, savings and find quick solutions to material supplies (deadlines, logistical crises, etc.)
- You will negotiate prices and conditions with suppliers
- You will support the implementation of the various phases of projects
What You Should Have:
- Currently enrolled in courses pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with Excel and Google Applications is preferred.
- You have good communication skills, have an international mindset and are open-minded to new cultures and new ways of working and thinking.
- You are humble, listening, positive attitude oriented, professional, and have the sense of diplomacy
- You are available to be on-site 24 to 30 hours per week
