Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Valve Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems, with the ability to work with precision measuring instruments. Responsible for inspecting, maintaining, disassembling, repairing, and testing various types of industrial valves, actuators, and positioners. Mainly shop work, but must also be willing to work onsite as needed in demanding environments with exposure to chemicals, high pressure systems and the elements.
Position Responsibilities:
- Disassembly and inspection:
- Taking apart valves to thoroughly examine components for wear, damage, or corrosion, identifying parts needing replacement.
- Repair and replacement:
- Replacing worn seals, gaskets, stems, actuators, or other valve components as needed.
- Pressure testing:
- Utilizing specialized equipment to test valves for leaks and proper pressure regulation.
- Machining:
- Machining seats, plugs, and serrations on lathe. Bracketry, adapters, keyways and other needed tooling/parts on CNC mill.
- Calibration:
- Adjusting valve settings to ensure accurate flow control within specified parameters.
- Lubrication:
- Applying appropriate lubricants to valve components to maintain smooth operation.
- Troubleshooting:
- Diagnosing valve malfunctions and identifying root causes of issues.
- Documentation:
- Maintaining detailed records of repairs, including parts used, test results, and work orders.
- Safety compliance:
- Following all safety procedures when handling hazardous materials and working in high-pressure environments.
Position Qualifications:
- Understanding of different valve types (Control valves, ball valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Ability to read and follow steps in technical manuals
- Basic computer literacy for recordkeeping
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
