Job Description
The role of the Digital/Satellite Communications Electronics Technician involves serving as a technical expert for Electronics Systems requiring solution design, installation, and operational problems. This includes testing, planning, designing, integrating, evaluating, failure analysis, troubleshooting, monitoring quality control, and developing various Satellite Communication Systems, DCSS subsystems, or components.
This position provides support for the development, acquisition, logistics support, testing, product improvements, and fielding of strategic DSCS earth terminal for all MILDEPS and agencies. The work involves Super-High Frequency (SHF) satellite communications ground terminals systems including but not limited to the FSC-78, GSC-39, GSC-52 systems.
The technician develops hardware and documentation customized to meet customer needs, e.g., new purpose multi-stage electronic circuits, and new units intended for operations not previously explored or applied. They participate in process action teams, individual consulting, and reviewing/validating technical documentation.
Responsibilities include training curricula development and maintenance, training aid development and maintenance, new technology insertion into the curricula, and technical training equipment development and acquisition. Project responsibility involves consideration of time, materials, cost, safety, budgetary controls, and performance requirements.
